Thirty Six Knots is a concept store and cafe selling uniquely designed, hand crafted area rugs and a curated selection of home accessories that support each rug collection. A collaboration between interior designers, graphic designers, and weavers in India, their rugs range from comfortable home accents to spectacular showpieces. Through Thirty Six Knots, they aim to support artisans, create stories of connection, and share their love of tradition, beauty, and design.
The name is derived from the Pazyryk carpet, considered the oldest carpet in the world, and is made up of 36 symmetrical knots per cm2, with each square filled by x-shaped patterns. In homage to this heritage, the x-shaped pattern is used throughout the visual identity. The palette is kept mainly neutral, but with hints of a bold red that can be found in the last x of the brand pattern, as well as a red thread and a red edge in printed material.
